Markdown → PDF

Check your Markdown proposals, quotes and meeting minutes page by page on real A4 sheets, then save them as PDF. The page breaks you see in the preview are the page breaks in the PDF. Tables, code blocks and blockquotes supported. Files never leave your device.

Your draft is saved automatically in this browser only (localStorage) and comes back next time. To start a new page, put <!-- pagebreak --> on its own line.

  • 1page (A4)
  • 0characters
  • 0tables

How to Use

  1. Enter MarkdownPaste into the editor, open (or drop) a .md file, or start from a template such as a quote or meeting minutes.
  2. Check it on paperThe preview lays the document out one A4 sheet at a time, so you can see what fits and where each page breaks. On a narrow screen, switch to the "Preview" tab.
  3. Save as PDFClick "Save as PDF" and pick "Save as PDF" as the print destination. To show the result in a chat or post, use "Save page 1 as PNG".

About This Tool

Conversion uses the open-source Markdown parser marked (MIT License) and happens entirely in your browser. The preview fills each sheet's text area (297 mm minus 18 mm top and bottom margins = 261 mm) one element at a time and moves to the next sheet when the next element no longer fits. A heading left alone at the bottom of a sheet moves to the next sheet with its text, and tables, code blocks and quotes that fit on one sheet are not split. A table longer than a sheet is split between rows, with the header row repeated on the next sheet. Printing uses these same sheets, so the page breaks in the PDF match the preview. Because the PDF comes from the browser's own print function, the text stays text — you can search and copy it in the PDF. We manage client proposals and quotes in Markdown ourselves — this is the same tool we use to ship them as PDFs.

How to Convert Markdown to PDF — Notes

This is an online Markdown (MD) to PDF converter. No upload or signup is needed, and both the conversion and the PDF output happen inside your browser.

From Markdown to PDF

Paste Markdown (or open a .md file) and an A4 preview appears on the right. The "1 / 2" under each sheet is its page number, and the count above the preview shows how many pages you have. Click "Save as PDF" to open the print dialog, then choose "Save as PDF" as the destination (in Safari, use the PDF menu at the bottom left) to download the file.

Supported Markdown

Headings, bullet and numbered lists, tables (GFM), code blocks, blockquotes, horizontal rules, links and images. Line breaks are kept as line breaks. The page is A4 portrait with 18 mm top/bottom and 16 mm left/right margins. To start a new page anywhere, put <!-- pagebreak --> on its own line. You can open text files such as .md / .markdown / .txt (up to 2 MB; UTF-8, Shift_JIS or EUC-JP). If you pick an image, a PDF or another non-text file, the tool tells you why and does not load it, so your current draft stays as it is.

Tips for a cleaner PDF

The margins are part of each sheet, so leave "Margins" in the print dialog on "Default" (changing it moves the page breaks away from the preview). If Chrome adds the date and URL, turn off "Headers and footers". Table columns that hold only short words (like "Qty" or "Amount") are kept on one line, so short words are not split across two lines. "Save page 1 as PNG" is for showing the result in a post or chat. The image is made on your device and is not sent anywhere. It does not work in Safari because of a browser restriction.
